TN BJP expels Madan Ravichandran from the party: Here's what the party has said!

Exactly a day after the party was surfaced with outrage across Tamil Nadu in the wake of the release of Tamil Nadu BJP's General Secretary KT Raghavan's video in which he was seen indulging in sexual acts, the party has on Wednesday expelled Madan Ravichandran from the party's primary membership in connection to releasing the video. Madan Ravichandran, a YouTuber, had joined the BJP last October in Delhi and he runs a YouTube channel under the name of 'Madan Diary'.

In the late hours of Monday, Madan had published a video on his YouTube channel and he claimed that he had done a sting operation after learning that some of the BJP leaders are sexually harassing women and despite being a member of the party, he had decided to bring out such issues to light and conducted the operation covertly. He further said that he had evidence against dozens of BJP leaders that they had explicitly indulged in sexual acts and he had released a video clip in which Tamil Nadu BJP General Secretary KT Raghavan was seen indulging in a sexual act while speaking to a woman in a video call.

The video had immensely shocked the BJP and stirred outrage against him and the party across and beyond Tamil Nadu. The video was shared widely which troubled the party post which several events were unfolded. In the video, Madan had claimed that the video was published with the backing of Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai and said that he had decided to release Raghavan's video first as the latter displays himself as 'Mr Clean'. He also said that he will release the videos of other leaders in the coming days and while it had torched fresh political heat in the state, Congress MP Jothimani had moved a complaint against Raghavan to Tamil Nadu DGP seeking to take action against the BJP leader.

Hours after the video was released, Raghavan had met Annamalai and discussed with him and later, he took to Twitter and announced that he is resigning from the party's post and by denying the allegations, Raghavan said he will face the matter legally. Even as the BJP braced a big bolt from the blue, Tamil Nadu BJP President had issued his first statement over the sex scandal on Tuesday in which he denied what Madan had claimed. Annamalai had admitted that he had met Madan and during their first meet, Madan told him that he possesses video evidence against the senior leaders who harassed women and asked to take immediate action against them.

Annamalai penned that he had affirmed to Madan that the evidence has to be checked and asked him to submit the evidence with the assurance that strict action will be taken against them if the allegations on them proved to be true. The BJP President had said that Madan had failed to produce the evidence and when he asked the Youtuber to disclose the evidence for the second time, Madan had echoed the first episode and the latter had also sent a message to Annamalai that he will release the video if no action was taken.

In his statement, Annamalai said, "However, I was firm in my decision that no action should be taken without knowing the facts. Hence, I had briefly replied to him and said that he is free to release the video. This morning, I spoke with KT Raghavan and he told me that the allegation against him was fabricated using high technology with the motive of degrading him and causing disrepute to the party's name. KT Raghavan told me that he will face this issue legally and as per the party's ethics, he told me that he is resigning from the party's post. I have accepted his resignation. I believe that KT Raghavan will face this issue legally".

The state BJP President further said that the party won't take any responsibility for Madan's video as he hasn't produced any evidence to the party when he was asked to. He added that the concerned people have to bear the responsibility for their actions. On Wednesday, the Tamil Nadu BJP had expelled Madan Ravichandran from the party and along with Madan, the party has also fired Venba, who was part of Madan Diary and of sting operation against KT Raghavan. Ironically, these two were expelled from the party while Raghavan continues to be a primary member of the party in the albeit of resigning as the General Secretary.

One of Tamil Nadu BJP's General Secretaries Karu Nagarajan has on Wednesday issued a statement in which the party announced the expulsion of Madan and Venba. Nagarajan said, "Madan Ravichandran and Venba had met Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai and affirmed that they will extend cooperation to the committee that was formed by the BJP to probe these allegations. At the same time, Madan and Venba are expelled from the primary membership of the party for their contradicting remarks against the party's principles in the video. The party functionaries and cadres are advised not to exercise any party-related contact with them (Madan and Venba)."
