A 23-year-old Tamil Nadu based student who has been pursuing her Masters at York University in Toronto, Canada had allegedly stabbed by the assailant and the incident had occurred around 10.00 pm local time on Wednesday while she was walking near her campus.
The reports pouring in from the other side of the world have been revealing that the student has been in critical condition and receiving treatments in the critical care unit of the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center in Toronto.
The student was identified as Rachel Albert who is a native of Coonoor, Nilgiri district in Tamil Nadu and after her family was informed about the shocking incident, the family members had approached the Ministry of External Affairs requesting for the immediate visa to travel to Canada to be with their daughter as she has been fighting for survival.
The reports have quoted the statements issued by the Toronto Police department in which it had said that the incident had happened around Leitch Avenue and Assiniboine Road. She was walking near her varsity's campus and she was approached by a man who reportedly assaulted and knocked her on the ground and the assailant had allegedly dragged her for a short distance.
The city's police department had stated that the suspect has been at large and they issued the hotline numbers to the city's residents to share the information about the assailant.

One of her family members Ronald had written to External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar in which he stated that Rachel has been stabbed and hospitalized in Canada and requested for help at the earliest following which Jaishankar responded back to the tweet and he stated that "Deeply shocked to learn of the serious attack on Rachel Albert, an Indian student in Toronto, Canada. I am asking MEA officials to help with her family’s visa. Family members may immediately contact us on +91 9873983884."
