Renowned Tamil comedian Thavasi, who is well-known for his supportive and comedic roles in the movies of the top stars, has now been battling for life after diagnosed with cancer. The thespian who made us smile through his natural acting has been pleading for help for treating the disease and to lift him from the plight. 

Thavasi, in his career spanning for over two decades, had made his debut in 'Kizhakku Cheemayile' which was directed by ace director Bharathiraja and hit the big screens in 1993. He had appeared in many rural-centric movies in supportive characters and he rose to fame through Sivakarthikeyan starred 'Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam'. 

In that movie, he acted as Soori's father and as an astrologer and his satiric delivery of dialogues in the movie had put him in popularity. However, in a shocking development, Thavasi has now been diagnosed with cancer and he has been appealing to the actors to help him in his treatment. The recent video that surfaced on social media showed the ailing state of the actor and how skinny he has become from how he was on the big screen. 

In the video, he pleaded for support to rescue him from the plight as he battles for life. The video was widely shared and the people were shocked to witness his state and expressing their wishes to him to recover from the disease. As he struggles to afford the treatment amid the financial distress, DMK MLA has come to offer help in his medical treatment to save him. 

DMK MLA of Thiruparankundram, Madurai Saravanan, who is a doctor-cum-politician has said that he would provide treatment for Thavasi in his hospital at a free-of-cost. Taking to social media, Saravanan said that actor Thavasi has been getting treated at Saravana hospital for dietric cancer. The actor has been in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and he has been fixed with an Oesophageal stent. 

Thavasi was admitted on November 11th, 2020 in the hospital and Saravanan said, "On 11.11.2020, we accepted all his medical expenses through our Surya Charity Organization, who was admitted as an intradict in our hospital with a very high cancer condition.". "He has acted in more than 140 films, party youth secretary brother Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin has also acted in the movie ′′ Kanne Kalaimane ′′ He was introduced to me on that shooting site. If anyone wants to help him, if he gives financial aid to his family, it will be a great help to his family in poverty", the DMK legislator added. 

The legislator has been commended for his help to the actor and following him, top actors Sivakarthikeyan and Soori have also come forward and assured their help to Thavasi, which gave him hope in getting recovered.. According to reports, Sivakarthikeyan has offered Rs 25,000 to the ailing actor and the amount was handed over to him by the Chief of Sivakarthikeyan fans' club in Madurai and Soori has offered Rs 20,000 and he further stated that he will be providing food free of cost for Thavasi's caretaker.
