As the state of Tamil Nadu has been nearing the date to host Indian Prime minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Mamallapuram for their second informal meet, the Chennai city police have detained about ten Tibetan activists who had planned to flag demonstrations and protests during the visit of the Chinese leader.
The police department had cited that of those ten people, the award winning writer and Tibetan activist Tenzin Tsundue was among the one who has been arrested after they have been accused towards reportedly planning to host protests with their demand of freeing the state of Tibet from the hands of China. The Selaiyur police department had stated the conformity of the arrests while failed to disclose the grounds under which they had detained.
However, the sources had indicated that the activists were locked up with accord to the inputs from intelligence on the possibility of grounding the protests by Tibetan Youth congress and Students for Free Tibet - India. The reports further revealed that Tenzin Tsundue, the poet and writer based in Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh, has been surrounded and handcuffed in Villupuram district while the rest of the activists were detained after they have arrived in Chennai from New Delhi.
The Villupuram district police authorities had affirmed that the writer and activist has been booked under the grounds of the obstruction, inciting and intent to use violence and loitering. Their arrests had implied that the security and intelligence grids have been tightened up in the wake of hosting Narendra Modi and Xi Jinping for their second informal summit in Mamallapuram between October 11th and 13th.
The delegations and the top security services of both nations had toured Mamallapuram ahead of flagging the meet to overview the preparedness of the town and its grounds of security to ensure that no lag has been accounted for during the visit of both leaders. The coastal town of Mamallapuram has been gearing up to welcome the leaders for the first time as the town's infrastructure has been enhanced and upgraded to showcase as the fittest city to host the international leaders. Last week, the state Chief minister Edappadi Palaniswami had rounded the town to review the security arrangements to host the Chinese leader and the visiting delegation that has been estimated up to nearly 300 people. CCTV cameras have been placed to equip the surveillance.
The reports had stated that two leaders will held direct discussions on the entire gamut of the relations and on the bilateral ties of both countries at least for four times.
