The year 2024 is going to be a treat for the fans as Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam are joining hands for a mega project titled ‘Thug Life’. The film, which was announced with a stunning promo video, is produced by Red Giant Movies, Raaj Kamal Films and Madras Talkies.
The star-studded cast includes Trisha, Dulquer Salmaan and Jayam Ravi in pivotal roles. But the biggest surprise of the film is the comeback of actress Abhirami, who will be sharing screen space with Kamal Haasan after 20 years. The duo had earlier worked together in the critically acclaimed and controversial film ‘Virumaandi’, which was released on Pongal 2004.
Abhirami, who played the role of Annalakshmi, the love interest of Kamal Haasan’s character, impressed the audience with her performance and chemistry with the veteran actor. Now, after two decades, Abhirami is all set to reunite with Kamal Haasan in ‘Thug Life’, which is also slated to release on Pongal 2024.
The actress, who is tight-lipped about her role in the film, expressed her pride and excitement to be a part of the project. She said, “I can only tell you that I’m a part of this project. The details regarding my role will be disclosed when the production house announces. I’m proud to be a part of the film. Virumaandi was released on Pongal 2004. This project is going on the floors for Pongal 2024. We are reuniting on the 20th anniversary of our previous film.”
‘Thug Life’ is expected to be a crime thriller that will showcase the brilliance of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam, who have previously collaborated in the classic film ‘Nayakan’, which is considered as one of the best Indian films of all time. The film will also mark the first time collaboration of Kamal Haasan with Trisha, Dulquer Salmaan and Jayam Ravi, who are among the top actors in the South Indian film industry.
The film’s music will be composed by A.R. Rahman, who has a long-standing association with both Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam. The film’s shooting is expected to commence soon and the makers are planning to wrap up the film in a single schedule.
