The legendary duo of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam, who gave us the iconic Nayagan, are back with another gangster drama, Thug Life. The film, which is produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International and Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies, along with R. Mahendran and Siva Ananth.
As the film already boasts of a stellar star cast that includes Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Dulquer Salmaan, Abhirami, and Nasser, the makers added a new cast for the film other than Gautham Karthik, and Malayalam star actor Joju George.
They revealed the look of Gautham Karthik and Joju George, by taking us to x, welcomed them with a post, saying, “Welcome onboard #JojuGeorge & @Gautham_Karthik to the magnificent ensemble of #ThugLife”.
Gautham Karthik, who made his debut with Mani Ratnam’s Kadal, expressed his excitement and gratitude for working with his mentor and the Ulaga Nayagan again. He wrote, “I’m super happy, excited and grateful to be joining hands once again with my guru and mentor #ManiRatnam sir and the one and only #UlagaNayagan @ikamalhaasan sir for their next venture.”
Thug Life is said to be a sequel to Nayagan, which was loosely based on the life of Mumbai underworld don Varadarajan Mudaliar. The film will explore the rise and fall of Sakthivel Nayakkar, played by Kamal Haasan, who is now an ageing don. Jayam Ravi is rumoured to play the role of a Collector.
The film will also feature the music of A.R. Rahman, who has composed some of the most memorable songs for Mani Ratnam’s films. The film is expected to go on floors soon, with Ravi K Chandran as the cinematographer, Sreekar Prasad as the editor, and Anbariv as the stunt choreographer.
