The legendary duo of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam, who gave us the iconic ‘Nayakan’ in 1987, are back together for ‘Thug Life’, which has been making waves ever since it was announced earlier. The film, which is produced by Kamal Haasan’s RKFI banner, is touted to be a gritty and stylish crime thriller set in the underworld of gang wars.
The film boasts of an ensemble cast that includes Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Dulquer Salmaan, Joju George, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Gautham Karthik, Abhirami, Nassar and many others. The film also marks the reunion of Kamal Haasan and AR Rahman, who have previously collaborated on many films. The film’s technical crew comprises of Ravi K Chandran as the cinematographer, Sreekar Prasad as the editor, and the Anbariv duo as the action choreographers.
The makers of the film took to X, to announce the commencement of the production works with a short video that featured the ensemble crew. The video also revealed the film’s logo, which has a stylized font and a bullet hole. The film is expected to be a high-octane entertainer that will showcase Kamal Haasan’s versatility and charisma as an actor. The film is also likely to explore the themes of loyalty, betrayal, revenge and redemption that are common in the gangster genre.
Thug Life is said to be a thrilling action drama, set in the backdrop of the underworld. Kamal Haasan steps into the shoes of Rangaraya Sakthivel Nayakar from Kayalpattinam, a character etched with destiny as a criminal, thug, and Yakuza. The film’s release date is yet to be announced, but the fans are already excited to witness the magic of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam on the big screen once again.
