After 11 official talks between farmers and Central government, the never ending protest of farmers is still on fire.
Following this, a tractor rally held in Delhi on January 26, Republic Day. There was a tussle between the farmers and the police and it turned into a riot.
In this context, Karur MP Jyoti Mani spoke to us;
"All three agricultural laws are against farmers. Law brought in for the benefit of foreign employers and corporates, without consultation with farmers. This will affect not only the farmers but also the general public. The reason is that the Essential Materials Protection Act has now been amended.
Before the amendment, no one could, including rice and wheat. Only producing farmers can save. It is a punishable offense under the Hoarding Act to store anyone other than these. But now the government is legalizing hoarding. Thus, big employers and corporates can stockpile as much as they want and create an artificial famine. Thus prices will rise and the public will suffer. Second, the contracting companies involved will write the legal plans themselves. The legal framework in it cannot be read and understood by our farmers. And in it, there are plenty of subtle words like quality, merit. They can reject products by showing any of these.
Nothing else can be done by contracting with them. In moments like this we can only go to court. Whoever has the problem has a place in the constitution to go to court. But, what this law says is that it completely forbids farmers to go to court. It clearly states that the farmers should go to the Deputy Governor, the head of the district administration and no one else. This law. Deprives farmers of all rights. Even if you want to buy a caste certificate, you have to go up and down the steps of government offices a hundred times. Are they going to do justice to the farmers? Once the farmers have signed this agreement they have no legal solution.
Third, there is no such thing as a minimum support price. So far the government has refused to put it in the amendment. Just because there is a minimum support price, such as free rice purchased through purchasing centers, comes under the Food Safety Act, introduced by the Congress government on that day, to ration shops. How will the goods come to the ration shops if the government does not make any purchase. Then they try to eliminate the ration shops. The peasants who are fighting here are fighting not only for themselves but also for the nation. They have struggled for days in a very fair way. Even now they are fighting fairly. The government refuses to listen to them. This is a tyrannical government.
The news that the flag was hoisted at the Red Fort was from a BJP person and a picture of that person. They are unleashing BJP thugs and causing riots and chaos in the struggle. Violence is not always the solution. Whichever side is injured in the violence, it is the loss to the nation, as Rahul Gandhi says. So far the peasants have fought peacefully. The BJP has unleashed violence in Delhi.
The farmers in India are ignorant and stupid and the BJP claims that they will listen only when provoked by the Congress. Is coming to say or. Farmers do not have all the knowledge, they are coming to say that the BJP has taken the whole lease. All this is an indecent accusation. The Congress party will stand on the field in support of the farmers. We held a meeting for farmers in Karur in which Rahul Gandhi attended. At that meeting the peasants rallied against the law, especially the female peasants. In one country, what are the political parties when the peasants are all fighting
against a law. Can farmers just wash their hands of it? The Congress party must stand on the side of the farmers. We do that. But it is the BJP that is instigating the violence.
Today farmers say it is out of bounds. Didn't this government call the farmers' Khalistanis and extremists when they were sitting quietly on the road earlier?
For almost eight months, the Chinese military has been bringing Chinese and building houses on Indian soil. Afraid to utter the word China against them, the Prime Minister is too cowardly to launch an attack on them. They stand on the field against the people of their own country. What a shame this is. So the government should immediately withdraw this black law. The Congress party will be the voice of the peasants in the coming parliamentary session."
