Popular Tamil actor Anandaraj has staunchly slammed the BJP for its intentional campaign to divide Tamil Nadu. For the past few days, the BJP has been infusing its signature politics of prompting a divide in Tamil Nadu at the backdrop of claiming that the party is fulfilling the demand of the people.
Several district units of BJP have been passing the resolution with the demand of dividing Tamil Nadu into two and the party has proposed that the western part of Tamil Nadu must be separated and should be called 'Kongu Nadu'. Under the guise that the people living in the western region are asking for a separate state, the BJP is unfolding the campaign to fuel its ideology and divide to rift the diversity of Tamil Nadu.
While the BJP leaders and cadres are abruptly supporting the divide to show their allegiance to the party, several political leaders, activists, and people who are backing the state's diversity are strongly slamming the Central ruling party for sowing its ideology in the state.
In line with that, actor turned politician Anandaraj has criticized the BJP for its efforts of dividing the state. While addressing the reporters in Chennai on Tuesday, the actor has slammed the Central ruling party and urged two Tamil Nadu BJP MLAs Nainar Nagendran and Vanathi Srinivasan to resign before raising the slogans to divide the state.
He said, "They should resign from their posts and should speak about dividing the state when they face the elections again." He was citing that they would be defeated in the polls if they speak about dividing the state. He further said, "I know the people of the Kongu region well than the politicians and Kongu Nadu is not the sentiment of the Kongu people. The politicians who demand the separation must shut their mouths."
Anandaraj has been in the ADMK party but he has been staying away from active politics after the demise of J Jayalalithaa. He also had voiced against the current leadership of the party and during his address on Tuesday, Anandaraj said, "I know what exactly is going on in ADMK. Several cadres of ADMK are waiting to quit the party and to join DMK. What's the issue if I join DMK? I will take the right decision when the time comes." The veteran actor has also urged the DMK government to stop the Mekedatu dam construction by Karnataka across the Cauvery river.
