Then Jansirani, now Jothimani...Fresh trouble for the Congress party! Here's what's happening

With three weeks ahead of the Tamil assembly polls, the Congress party has been facing troubles, not from the rivals but by the voices from inside the party the erupted from the leaders who have alleged that the party has been putting money first in picking the candidates for the polls. The Congress party is contesting the polls in the DMK alliance and the state opposition party had allotted 25 seats for the grand old party.

On Thursday, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) Chief KS Alagiri has unveiled the list of constituencies for the polls and the party caught up with staunch objections over picking the constituencies. The state leaders said that the Congress party is not observing transparency in selecting the candidates and constituencies. Castigating the TNCC, the party cadres had organized their protests at the party's headquarters in Chennai.

Senior Congress leader Vishnu Prasad had held protests with his supporters in Sathyamoorthy Bhavan, the party's headquarters in Chennai and they had accused the party of selecting the wrong constituencies and candidates under the grounds of money over transparency. They were outraged against the state party leadership for not taking their suggestions and the party is ignoring the candidates and constituencies which had a bright prospect of winning the election.

The protests had troubled the party leadership when it has been hoping to have a political breakthrough in Tamil Nadu. The party is driving into more tensions when the state is three weeks ahead of the polls. The development had shocked the party and hours after the leaders staged the protests, Congress MP had come in support of the protesting leaders and had given an open statement that the party is not taking the suggestions and it is losing the winnable constituencies.

Taking to Twitter, Jothimani said, "I am aware of the protests of Congress cadres. There is no transparency in the selection of constituencies and candidates. There are many mistakes and I have raised questions but there is no proper response. The heartless leaders are sucking on the blood of cadres and they are not listening to the voices of truth".

"It is unacceptable that those who have worked for the party for many years, those who have remained true loyalists, and those who have winning chances are being ignored and it is atrocious that only those with money power could get seats", she added and further said that the Congress party was built with the blood and sweat of its cadres and nobody has the right to remove the history.

Jothimani's voice against the current state party leadership has come a day after Congress leader Jansi Rani had accused Alagiri of putting money first. Jansi Rani said she has been working on the ground in Nilakottai for over four years and Alagiri has assured her the seat of Nilakottai in the assembly polls. However, the state leadership had offered Nilakottai to the allied party following which Jansi Rani had slammed Alagiri.

Jansi Rani said that she has a problem not in denying her the seat but in putting the money first over the hard work of people. She also petitioned her complaint to the Central leadership and said that KS Alagiri is pushing the party into the abyss. Following her comment, Jothimani has now come to the front and shockingly said that the party lacks transparency.

Jothimani said, "I would not have been an MP today if my leader Rahul Gandhi had considered money power as more important and these leaders are not only disloyal to their cadres but disloyal to the leader who trusted them. We cadre should protect the party and its dignity". The protesters have been observing fast against the wrong selection of candidates and constituencies in front of Sathyamoorthy Bhavan on Saturday.

Jothimani further asserted that she will continue to fight and she will continue to be the voice of cadres. The protests had pushed the Congress party to brace up huge shock ahead of the assembly polls and the political observers say that the development would further weaken the party and the leadership has to fix the trouble without which it might plunge in the state. As the open statement from Jothimani had shocked the leaders, the reports say that the Congress leaders are in talks with the protesters to ensure that they reach a consensus before the protests could trigger a major tussle.
