Then BJP, now DMK...How MK Stalin invited fresh trouble?

With just months ahead for the assembly polls, Tamil Nadu has been witnessing what has been a bid from the rival parties to succeed in covering a major section of voters. The high-level drama from the political parties had stirred up the heat between them on who will gain more votes in the state by claiming and unfolding 'Vel politics', leaving the state to see the emergence of it as one of the ingredients in a recipe of unprecedented political war to take over the reign.

'Vel politics' is the latest fashion that the parties in the state aim to stick to the trend as from the leaders to the partymen, 'Vel', which is a spear associated with Lord Murugan, has become no less than a gamechanger in the polls and has been used by them than Lord Murugan and the drama will come to an end with the climax of who yielded more votes from the majority section of people. While this fashion was stirred up the BJP, branding it as a devotee of Murugan like how for Lord Ram in North India, the Vel politics has now been seen in the hands of DMK President MK Stalin, which wasn't pleased by the national ruling party and its ally ADMK.

MK Stalin, the president of the party which upholds the principle of atheism, was addressing a gram sabha meeting in Thiruvallur district on Saturday, and during his address, the partymen of DMK had presented Stalin with a silver 'Vel' and the photo of him with the Vel had gone viral, which perhaps irked the BJP and ADMK and both the parties had strongly flayed the DMK President. In the sabha meeting, Stalin said that a golden tower was built in the Tiruttani temple when the DMK was in power, despite the party carried the anti-Hindu image.

Reacting to Stalin's 'Vel' politics, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami has strongly slammed the DMK president and accused him of acting for votes. Speaking at the election rally in Coimbatore district on Sunday, the Chief Minister said that Stalin's act of holding a vel and posing was only a drama. By citing that Stalin has begun his acting, Edappadi Palaniswami said that the story, screenplay, and direction for Stalin's acting was written by Prashant Kishor, who is the election strategist for the DMK party.

The Chief Minister claimed Stalin to be the only leader who does drama for elections and added that God has been watching the drama that they are staging for votes and God will serve them right in this election. Palaniswami said that God will bless only those who inherently have faith. He vowed, "If you (Stalin) act, keeping votes in mind, then even God will act in a way so as to defeat you, and he will only support the ADMK." While the political observers describe Stalin's 'Vel politics' as his bid to clear the anti-Hindu image of the DMK ahead of the elections, the Tamil Nadu BJP unit has claimed that Stalin has done what he flayed the party for doing the same a few months ago.

According to reports, Tamil Nadu BJP President L Murugan said that Stalin's Vel politics was proof that the BJP's Vetrivel Yatra in Tamil Nadu had succeeded. Murugan said, "Many said that Vetrivel Yatra is political. Brother Stalin has been pushed into a situation where he had to take the vel in his hand. People are not ready to believe you how much ever you dress up and perform acting ".  Murugan claimed that he has made Stalin carry a 'Vel' from the same town (Tiruttani) from where he began Vetrivel Yatra.

It must be noted that BJP had launched and carried out the 'Vetrivel Yatra' in late last year across Tamil Nadu despite the ban from the ADMK government by citing the COVID-19 protocols. BJP State president L Murugan had started the campaign from Thirutanni with a Vel and he traveled across Tamil Nadu, visiting the six adobes (Arupadai Veedu) of Lord Murugan to ensure that the pro-Hindu party won't miss the Hindu vote base in the assembly polls. The Yatra was attended by thousands of BJP leaders and partymen and the campaign found strong terms against DMK and a display of BJP's hope to emerge as a powerful party in the state.

Actor turned politician Khushboo, who recently joined BJP, had attacked Stalin. Taking to Twitter, she said, "Funny to see those who have been talking about ideologies of atheism, suddenly picking up #Vel in their hands n trying to prove their love for God. Clearly, @BJP4India has arrived with vengeance. Magic of @narendramodi ji is going to work big time in #TNElections2021".

On the other hand, reacting to BJP and ADMK, the DMK leaders said that Stalin has taken the Vel to destroy ADMK by performing 'Soorasamharam', (Lord Murugan destroying Asura Sooran). DMK leader RS Bharathi said that Lord Murugan will bless DMK while ADMK will only be blessed by BJP's L Murugan. The reports say that Stalin's Vel had put him under fresh trouble with some political observers said that, when Stalin hopes to rise to power, he must have avoided carrying a 'Vel', which they say, would give a talking point to DMK's rivals that Stalin has exposed his double standards for covering votes.
