Thangalaan: Chiyaan Vikram's birthday treat for fans! Makers share the surprise update

Thangalaan, starring Chiyaan Vikram, is one of the most anticipated films of the year, and on the actor's birthday, a special surprise will be dropped to the fans as a birthday present. The exciting news was shared on social media by the film's makers alongside a brand new poster depicting Vikram in a gritty, rural look.

Taking to Twitter, Neelam Productions, bankrolling the drama, shared that a special glimpse video will be released on April 17th on the occasion of Vikram's birthday. They wrote, "Get ready for something powerful from the world of #Thangalaan! Witness a slice of flesh on #ChiyaanVikram's birthday 17th April, 2023"

Thangalaan marks the first collaboration between Vikram and director Pa Ranjith, who is known for his socially relevant films. The film is based on the true events that revolve around the lives of mine workers in the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in Karnataka. Vikram is rumored to be seen playing a mining worker who fights for the rights and dignity of his people.

The film has already completed 80% of its shooting and recently wrapped up the KGF schedule. The next schedule will take place in Chennai and Madurai. The film also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy and Harikrishnan in pivotal roles. GV Prakash Kumar is composing the music for the film, which is produced by Studio Green and Neelam Productions.

The first-look poster and a title teaser were released last year and received a positive response from the audience. The new poster showed Vikram shirtless with a muscular physique and a fierce expression. The glimpse gave a sneak peek into the world of Thangalaan, which is set in the pre-independence era.

The composer of the film, GV Prakash Kumar, took to Twitter to share the latest poster and wrote, "This footage is going to be phenomenal … breathtaking stuff on its way". Fans are eagerly waiting to see more of Vikram's character and his performance in Thangalaan, which is expected to be a grand action drama.

Thangalaan is slated to release in 2024 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi languages. Meanwhile, Vikram is also awaiting the release of Ponniyin Selvan II, directed by Mani Ratnam, which will hit the screens on April 28.
