The superstar of Indian cinema, Rajinikanth, is gearing up for his next big project, ‘Thalaivar 170’, which promises to be a thrilling action drama with a social message. The film, directed by TJ Gnanavel, who impressed the audience with his critically acclaimed ‘Jai Bhim’, will feature Rajinikanth as a retired cop who opposes encounter culture. 

As per the latest sources from the insiders, the shooting for Thalaivar 170 will commence on September 15 in a grand set erected in Chennai But that’s not all. The film also boasts of a stellar star cast that includes some of the biggest names in the industry. According to the latest buzz, Amitabh Bachchan, the legendary actor of Bollywood, will be playing the antagonist in the film.

This will mark the first time that Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan will share screen space in a full-fledged role, after their cameo appearances in ‘Hum’ and ‘Andha Kanoon’. Fans are eagerly waiting to see the clash of the titans on the big screen.

The film also has some exciting additions from the South Indian film industry. Sharwanand, the talented actor from Telugu cinema, is rumoured to star alongside Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan in Thalaivar 170. Sharwanand has proved his mettle with films like ‘Engeyum Eppodhum’, ‘Mahanubhavudu’ and ‘Sreekaram’. He is expected to play a pivotal role in the film.

Another surprise element in the film is Fahadh Faasil, the versatile actor from Malayalam cinema, who has won accolades for his performances in films like ‘Bangalore Days’, Vikram and ‘Mamannan’. Fahadh Faasil is said to be part of Thalaivar 170 along with Nani, the natural star of Telugu cinema. Nani is known for his charming and realistic portrayals in films like ‘Eega’, ‘Jersey’ and ‘V’. The trio of Fahadh Faasil, Nani and Sharwanand will add more value to the film.

Thalaivar 170 will also feature some familiar faces from Tamil cinema, such as Manju Warrier, the lady superstar of Malayalam cinema, who made her Tamil debut with ‘Asuran’, Kalyani Priyadarshan, the pretty young actress who impressed with her performance in ‘Hero’, and Vadivelu, the comedy king who has entertained the audience with his hilarious antics in many Rajinikanth films.

Thalaivar 170 will be produced by Lyca Productions, who have previously collaborated with Rajinikanth on films like ‘Darbar’ and ‘Kaala’. The music for the film will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who has given some chartbuster songs for Rajinikanth’s films like ‘Petta’ and ‘Jailer’. The title of the film is speculated to be ‘Vettaiyan’, which means hunter in Tamil.

Thalaivar 170 is expected to be a quick project and it will be released in 2024. The film will be Rajinikanth’s 170th film in his illustrious career that spans over four decades.It's no surprise that fans are eagerly counting down the days until they can witness their favorite star in action once again.
