After being proven guilty over the alleged sexual assault case, the mahila court in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu had awarded the accused with ten years of imprisonment for harassing a minor girl.
It has been reported that the accused named Vijayakumar, who is a daily wager of Katpadi in Vellore was detained by the police department on brutally assaulting a minor girl on November 11th, 2015 while the child was reportedly playing near his house. The reports say that he abducted the minor girl by buying her chocolates from nearby shop after which he abruptly taken the child to the isolated spot where he allegedly assaulted her.
The minor girl, who survived with injuries, reported to her parents on what had happened after which she was admitted in Vellore government hospital, where she received treatment. After filing a complaint against the prime accused, the police department of Thiruvalam had detained Vijayakumar and produced him to the Katpadi police team following which they had filed a charge sheet against him.
After hearing the case, Justice Selvam of Vellore mahila court had pronounced his judgment today in which he had sentenced the accused with ten years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1,500. In his judgment, he further directed the Vellore district collector to provide compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the victim.
