Tamil Nadu's police station ranked fourth in the top ten Indian police stations!

Union Ministry of Home Affairs has, on Friday, listed out the top ten police stations in India in which Tamil Nadu's Theni All Women police station has been ranked in the fourth spot while most of the South Indian states have either trailed in the ranking or missed their spots on being named to have best police stations in India.

Home Minister Amit Shah has revealed that the majority of police stations that were short-listed across the country are the ones located in small towns, in hamlets, and in rural areas and stated that most of the police stations in the top ten list hail from these backward and rural areas. By quoting the rankings, Amit Shah added that despite the importance of resource availability, these police stations and the police personnel have shown dedication and sincerity towards preventing, and controlling crime and in serving the nation.

The reports say that the survey was conducted with an objective of identifying the top ten police stations out of 15,579 police stations in the country under the grounds of data analysis, public feedback, and direct observation and by having the survey, the ministry has begun the ranking process by shortlisting the best-performing police stations in each state on the categories of addressing property offense, crime against weaker and backward sections, and crime against women.

Initially, three police stations were selected in the state that has more than 750 police stations while two police stations from the states lesser than 750 and in Delhi and one from each Union Territory and after filtering the selected police stations based on the parameters and categories, about 79 police stations have passed the next level of ranking process.  In the final stage, these selected police stations had testified with 19 parameters for evaluating the standards of service delivery and techniques - this part had 80% in overall scoring while the rest 20% was to ascertain the infrastructure of the Police stations and approachability of the police personnel and the feedback from the citizen.

In the top ten list, Aberdeen Police station in the Andaman Islands topped first while Balasinor police station in Mahisagar district of Gujarat ranked in the second spot. Ajk Burhanpur police station in Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh stood at third spot and Theni All Women Police station in Tamil Nadu got fourth place. 

Anini police station in Dibang Valley of Arunachal Pradesh ranked at the fifth spot and Delhi's Baba Haridas Nagar police station in Dwarka spotted in sixth place. Bakani police station in Jhalawar district of Rajasthan ranked at the seventh place while Telangana's Choppadandi police station in Karimnagar ranked at the eighth spot and the last two spots have been awarded to Goa's Bicholim police station and Madhya Pradesh's Bargawa police station respectively.
