The reports shockingly revealed that the opposition party of Tamil Nadu , Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) had rained crores of money for its allied party during 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
An alleged grounds of conspiracy funding had come to the spotlight after the party had filed the expenditure affidavit for the recently concluded parliamentary elections that had certainly mounted questions regarding the norms of Election commission. It has been reported that the Dravidian party had given major of its total expenditure in affidavit to the communist parties where the Communist party of India has reportedly received Rs 15 crore while the Marxism camp had received Rs 10 crore.
The affidavit further states that apart from both communist parties, Kondu Nadu Democratic party, which is in the alliance, had received Rs 15 crore. The DMK party had cited that it had incurred about Rs 79 crore as the total expenditure in 2019 campaign trail that had massively swept huge victories in all the seats it had contested and so the communist parties, which won the parliamentary seats that was allotted by the alliance. Through the affidavit file by DMK, the reports say that the communist parties had violated the election rules by spending more than 10 crores.
While questioned about the alleged conspiracy, Tamil Nadu state secretary for Marxist communist party, K Balakrishnan had said that the party hasn't violated the electoral regulations and admitted that the party had spent Rs 10 crore not only for the party's seats but also for campaigning in all the constituencies in the state contested by allied parties.
On the other hand, the state secretary for Indian communist party had claimed that the political parties exercise common grounds to give and take money which have no role to play in the elections and further cited that the party had took the money from DMK for other needs that the party will repay it and indicated that the money of Rs 15 crore that was received by the party was not connected to the elections.
The Election commission sources had said that the Marxist communist party had submitted the records that it had spent about Rs 7.3 crore across India and the Dravidian party had denied to clarify the figure and the sources within the party had said that these transactions were to exchange the money concerned with DMK and its allied parties.
