Tamil Nadu MP's plea has been rejected by the Apex court!

The Supreme court bench headed by the Chief Justice of India had today rejected the habeas corpus plea filed by Tamil Nadu Rajya Sabha MP and MDMK Supremo Vaiko to free the Kashmiri leader Farooq Abdullah who has been under lock down since August 5, 2019.

In the petition he filed earlier this month before the apex court, he demanded the court's order to produce the detained Kashmiri leader and former Chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir before the top judicial body following which he had urged the court to issue the directive to transport the leader to attend an event in Chennai on September 15th.

Amidst the hearing, the event was concluded without his presence and the court had issued notice to the Central government on the habeas corpus petition following which, the government had declared that Farooq Abdullah has been detained under Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act, the first ever confirmation issued by the government on the status of Kashmir political leader since the lock down.

After the conformity from the government that he has been arrested under Public Safety Act, the Supreme court bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and comprised of Justices Bobde and Nazeer had today rejected Vaiko's petition by citing that the Kashmiri leader has been imprisoned under safety act and further advised Vaiko to challenge the detention order against Abdullah before the appropriate and relevant authorities.

Farooq Abdullah is one of the state political leaders who has been detained and under lock down since August 5th, 2019 prior to which the Central government had revoked and abrogated the special status from the state of Jammu and Kashmir that has still been oiling the tensions and unrest over the region and between India and Pakistan, the countries which had claimed its entirety for the past seven decades. In the wake of scrapping off the special status, the state of Kashmir has been stationed by thousands of troops and imposed with severe restrictions and suspension of mobile network and broadband services.

Nearly after two months, the state has been easing from the hands of restrictions but the clouds have been fueling the unrest among the borders. Former Chief minister Mehbooba Mufti was one among the notable political figures in the state who has been under lock down.
