The board exam results of Classes 10 and 12 in Tamil Nadu were released on Monday - June 20 as the students are preparing for the hindrance-free education for their next level after facing hurdles over physical learning in the wake of the Covid pandemic. The concerned students were waiting for their results and they have been getting their results from the official website issued by the government.
As per the Class 10 results, over 90% of the students have cleared the board exam. While a total of 9,12,620 students appeared for the exam, 8,21,994 of them (90.1%) have passed. With 90.1%, the state had recorded a decline in the pass percentage as it was 94.5% in 2018 and 95.2% in 2019. The board exams weren't conducted for 2020 and 2021 owing to the pandemic. On the front of the gender of the candidates who wrote the Class 10 exams, 4,60,120 were boys and 4,52,499 were girls, while there was one transgender student.
While the girls had outnumbered the boys with a high pass percentage of 94.4, the boys had delivered a pass percentage of 85.8% this year. A total of 4,006 schools have achieved a 100% pass percentage of which 886 are government schools. As per the data, a total of 65 students in the state scored more than 495 out of 500 marks while 5,20,904 students scored less than 300 marks.
The subject-wise pass percentage has shown that the lowest pass percentage was seen for the Maths exam with 90.89%. While 94.84% of the students have cleared the Language paper, 96.18% had cleared the English exam and the percentage stands at 93.67 and 91.86 for science and social science exams respectively. In its performance analysis, the Tamil Nadu Department of Government Examinations said that a total of 6,016 disabled students have appeared for the exam of which 5,424 students have cleared it.
On the other hand, 42,519 (4.45%) students didn't appear for the Class 10 board exam. Apart from the school candidates, 242 prisoners have written the Class 10 board exam and 133 (54.95%) candidates have cleared it. As far as the Class 12 results are concerned, the girls have outnumbered the boys and the overall pass percentage this year was 93.76% while it was 92.3% in 2020. In the wake of the pandemic, the board exams weren't held in 2021 and as per the current results, 8,06,277 students have appeared the pass percentage of girls is 96.32% while the boys have delivered a pass percentage of 90.96%.
According to the results, as many as 2,628 schools have secured a 100% pass percentage of which 246 are government schools. As per the analysis released by the Directorate of Government Examinations, the government schools have secured an overall pass percentage of 89.06%. Nearly, 8.06 lakh students, including private candidates, have appeared for the exams held from May 5 to May 28. Of these numbers, 4,21,622 lakh were girls and 3,84,655 lakh were boys.
Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi has released the results on Monday and this year, the Kanyakumari district has topped the pass percentage rate of the Class 10 board exam with 97.22% while the Vellore district has the lowest pass percentage of 79.87. Perambalur district has topped the pass percentage rate of the Class 12 board exam with 97.95%. Virudhunagar has come next with 97.27%. Ramanathapuram took third place with 97.02%, followed by Coimbatore with 96.91% and Madurai with 96.89%. Like the Class 10 board exam, Vellore has also recorded the lowest pass percentage in the Class 12 exam with 86.69%.
