Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin's mother Dayalu Ammal is hospitalized in Chennai on Thursday after she developed health discomforts. 89-year-old Dayalu Ammal has been residing at the Gopalapuram residence in Chennai, where her late husband and DMK Stalwart Karunanidhi lived. She would often be visited by her children including MK Stalin. 

Dayalu Ammal has been suffering from Alzheimer for the past few years and she has also been getting treated for her age-related ailments. On Thursday, she has complained of a health setback following which she was rushed to the Apollo Hospitals in Greams Road, Chennai. According to reports, MK Stalin has come to the hospital and visited his mother.

Dayalu Ammal has now been taken care of her other children MK Tamilarasu, MK Alagiri, and Selvi. She was under home treatment even when Karunanidhi was battling his ailments. She has been taken to the hospital for the first time in three years following the complication. The reports say that Dayalu Ammal was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. She was admitted for a health check-up and will be getting discharged in one or two days.
