For the first time since getting elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly, the BJP legislators have on Saturday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the latter's residence in Delhi. The MLAs were accompanied by Tamil Nadu BJP state president L Murugan. The leaders had carried a well-packed agenda of what they called as state-related schemes.
The BJP had earned four seats in the current assembly in the ADMK alliance. Vanathi Srinivasan (Coimbatore South), CK Saraswathi (Modakkurichi), Nainar Nagendran (Tirunelveli), and MR Gandhi (Nagercoil) are the four BJP MLAs in the assembly. Nearly two months after winning the elections, all four of them had visited Delhi to meet the Prime Minister.
The legislators were accompanied by BJP state president L Murugan and all the leaders had on Saturday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence - 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in Delhi. The meeting had lasted for nearly thirty minutes during which the Tamil Nadu leaders had moved their petition for the state's development. After meeting the Prime Ministers, the leaders had taken a photograph before leaving his residence.
The meeting has come at a high time when Tamil Nadu is inching closer to the local body polls in nine districts. Speaking to ANI after meeting the Prime Minister, Murugan said, "We discussed Tamil Nadu state-related schemes with the Prime Minister during our meeting today. Since after twenty years, BJP MLAs were elected in Tamil Nadu, so we wanted to take the Prime Minister's blessing."
He further said that Tamil Nadu has several religious places including Rameswaram, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Mahabalipuram, and Thanjavur and the leaders had petitioned the Prime Minister to develop tourism in these places. He said, "We had brought the anti-national elements in the Tamil Nadu politics to the attention of the Prime Minister. We also had discussed interlinking rivers and he had congratulated the BJP MLAs elected in Tamil Nadu."
He had slammed the DMK government in the state over its NEET policy. He said despite knowing that it can't repeal the NEET, which is taking place in the directive of the Supreme Court, the DMK had promised that it will revoke the NEET in the state. Murugan claimed that DMK clearly knows that it can't repeal NEET due to which Stalin's government had formed a fictitious panel to study the NEET impact. According to ANI, after meeting the Prime Minister, the Tamil Nadu BJP leaders had also met BJP National President JP Nadda.
