'Take care of TN people who attended Jamaat event' - EPS to Delhi CM!

In a letter to his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami has urged to provide better care to the people of Tamil Nadu who stranded in Delhi after attending the Tablighi Jamaat Conference that was organized in the national capital in March. 

His letter to Arvind Kejriwal has come amid the Coronavirus outbreak and according to the reports, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has written to Kejriwal on Friday in which he asked the latter to offer better care for 559 people from Tamil Nadu who have been getting treated in Delhi and they were among thousands who had attended the conference.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister indicated that the state government has been receiving grievances concerning their stay in Delhi. He further listed out the details of all 559 men and the hospitals where they have been getting treated and appealed to his Delhi counterpart to extend necessary medical assistance for people who are suffering from co-morbidity.

Through the letter, it can be learned that of 559, 183 people are getting treated at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)  Jhajjar, Lok Nayak Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty hospital, and Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital in Delhi whereas the rest of the people have been kept under the quarantine facilities in Sultanpuri, Narela, Dwarka, Badarpur, and Bakkarwala West.

The people have notified the Tamil Nadu government about the lack of serving food on time that would worsen the conditions of the diabetic and co-morbid patients. By citing Ramzan, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has urged Arvind Kejriwal towards ensuring that the people have been provided with proper food and medicines. According to the state government, more than 1,500 people have attended the Jamaat conference in March amid the outbreak.

About 1,100 had returned to the state while the rest stranded in Delhi due to the nationwide lockdown imposed by the Central government which had suspended the transportation channels. The event was held from March 8 to 23 in Nizamuddin, Delhi and it had the presence of the people from India and abroad and later the conference had emerged as the epicenter for the virus as most of the positive cases had been reported to have attended the conference.
