The Governor, who has a disputable relation with the DMK-led state government, has allegedly defied the Assembly protocol for the second year in a row by boycotting his assembly address with a peculiar claim. 

When Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin stood up to answer the Assembly for the very first time, the DMK members and ministers applauded and cheered enthusiastically.

To complete the project, a deepwater channel measuring 83.2 kilometres will be dug from the shallow Palk Strait to the Gulf of Mannar.
