As the chaos over the Chief Ministerial race has finally come to an end, the Congress functionaries in Karnataka have been celebrating as the party is all set to form a government with a historical mandate. 

As it is expected that new Congress government will swear-in to power on Thursday - May 18, the Congress party is pushed to end the suspense of who will become the Chief Minister.

As Congress has defeated BJP in the latter's only ruling state in South India, the former is in the rain of wishes from several national leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

After conceding defeat, BJP leader and outgoing Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai made his first remarks and claimed that the party would come back strong in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. 

The final results will be announced on Saturday evening but the initial trend shows that the Congress party is pacing good to hit the magical number of 113.

As the polling is over and the entire nation is waiting with bated breath for the results, which will be declared on Saturday - May 13, a village in the state has turned heads for a meager voting.

The 224 seats went to the single-phase polling on Wednesday after a scorching political campaign between the arch-nemesis BJP and the Congress. 

The development has come days after a handful of BJP leaders, who belong to the Lingayat community, have quit the party and joined the Congress. 

The campaigns in Karnataka will come to a close by 5 pm on Monday and as the campaign has come to the climax, the voters' verdict on May 13 will actually end the story. 

It must be noted that Rathod is contesting against Mallikarjun Kharge's son Priyank Kharge in Chittapur constituency in the upcoming Karnataka polls.
