Weeks after ending his five-decade association with the grand old party, Azad launched his new party in Jammu on Monday - September 26.

After quitting Congress, Azad announced that he is going to float a new political party and that his new political journey will begin from his home turf of Jammu and Kashmir.

By refusing to comment further on his new party, Azad said, "I have thought about this decision for long and there is no going back." 

The veteran leader has slammed Rahul Gandhi for his immaturity and for demolishing the consultative mechanism in the party.

On the other hand, Congress is not ready to keep Azad away from active politics at a high time when the party needs to build a stable opposition both inside and outside the Parliament.

It must be noted that this has become the second such order from the government to file defamation against Stalin.

All these four contenders would push the party's leadership to brace up the challenge as they have been observing ties with the Gandhis either as the close advisers or as the trusted confidantes. 

As the leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha, Azad will sit straight opposite the Prime Minister in the chamber when the latter comes to attend the house proceedings.
