Chandrachud will serve as the CJI for two years and he has scripted an iconic history as he is going to take on the role that was decorated by his father Y V Chandrachud decades ago. 

The incumbent Chief Justice of India (CJI) Uday Umesh Lalit is all set to retire on November 8 and as a protocol, he was asked by the Union Law Ministry to recommend his successor.
