The Defence Minister has said that the Indian Air Force has ordered a tri-service inquiry into the military chopper crash and the investigation will be led by Air Marshal Manavendra Singh.

Rawat's condition was immediately not known and later, it was declared that he and his wife were among the 13 deceased. As the nation has been mourning his loss, let's take a look at the timeline of the events. 

The Indian Air Force said, "With deep regret, it has now been ascertained that Gen Bipin Rawat, Mrs Madhulika Rawat, and 11 other persons on board have died in the unfortunate accident." 

The Indian Air Force has confirmed that Rawat was on board and he was on his way to deliver a lecture at the Defence Staff College in Wellington. 

As the condition of Rawat is yet to be revealed, let's take a look at what do we know so far. 

In Delhi, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the accident and he also briefed the Union cabinet. 

The bodies of the deceased officers have been recovered and the reports say that around three people have sustained severe injuries that were taken to the hospital.
