A suspended BJP leader is arrested for tormenting her maid...Here's the horrific story!

A suspended BJP leader was arrested and imprisoned by the Jharkhand police for tormenting her maid, who was an Adivasi. The incident of incessant torture came to light after the BJP leader's son had reported it to his friend and government personnel, who then approached the police with a complaint to take action against the BJP leader and rescue the maid. 

BJP leader Seema Patra, who was suspended from the party, has now been arrested for torturing her maid. Patra is the wife of a former IAS officer and the Adivasi maid, Sunita Kumari, had been working at Patra's residence for the past eight years. According to reports, a case was registered against Seema Patra with the Argora Police in Ranchi on August 22 based on a complaint filed by Vivek Anand Baske, an officer of the personnel and administrative reforms department of the Jharkhand government.

Notably, Baske is the friend of Ayushman, who is the son of Seema Patra. After knowing that her mother is torturing the maid, Ayushman sought Baske's help to rescue her. However, when Patra came to know that her son is helping to free the maid, she sent Ayushman to the Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatry and Allied Sciences with the view of keeping his son away from the sight of Sunita's nightmare. 

However, Ayushman had recorded some earlier videos of his mother torturing the maid and he shared those videos with Baske, who then went to the police and lodged a complaint against Seema Patra. On Wednesday, a police team led by Hatia DSP Raj Mitra raided Patra's residence around 7 am to arrest her based on the complaint. The police stormed into her residence in the morning hours after learning that she was planning to leave home. 

Patra arrived at her residence on Tuesday night and before she executed her plan of leaving, the police team arrived at her residence and took her under custody. Ranchi SSP Kishore Kaushal said, "Seema Patra was produced before the court after arrest and sent to Birsa Munda Central jail." The police rescued Sunita on Tuesday and she is currently getting treated at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital in Ranchi. 

On Tuesday, the police recorded Sunita's statement before the judicial magistrate court. Seema's daughter has also been accused of torturing Sunita Kumari. It has been reported that on Tuesday, two members of the National Commission for Women met Sunita at the hospital while several politicians met her on Wednesday. Speaking to ANI, 29-year-old maid Sunita Kumari said, "I have throat issues. What you heard is exactly what happened to me. Madam used to beat me up when I used to make a mistake while working." 

Speaking about Patra's conduct of torturing her maid, BJP leader and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi said, "We came here to meet the victim, she is a poor lady and used to work at her house. The way she was beaten by her was not right. It's good that she has been arrested and the party has also removed her." Sunita is a native of the Gumla region and was working at Patra's residence for the past eight years and in one of the videos, she said that she was often beaten by Patra with iron rods and hot pans.
