Suriya, the versatile star of Tamil cinema, is all set to dazzle the audience with his most ambitious project till date. Kanguva, a period action drama directed by Siva and written by Adi Narayana, is a film that promises to be a visual spectacle and a thrilling adventure. The film, which is being made in 10 languages in 3D, has been titled Kanguva for all languages to connect with the pan-Indian audience.
The creators of the highly-anticipated movie 'Kangua' are setting the stage for an epic trilogy. But the fate of the sequels lies solely in the response for the first part. The filmmakers have taken a daring approach, deciding to greenlight the sequels only if the first installment manages to a sensational hit.
The film’s first glimpse was released on July 23, 2023, coinciding with Suriya’s birthday, and it has created a huge buzz among the fans and the film fraternity. The glimpse showcases the stunning making of the film, which features Suriya in five different roles as Arathar, Venkaater, Mandaankar, Mukaatar and Perumanathar.
The actor is seen in various avatars, ranging from a fierce warrior to a majestic king, and he impresses with his intense expressions and body language. The glimpse also reveals the grand scale of the film, which has been shot in exotic locations like Goa, Kerala and Kodaikanal. The film boasts of high-end visual effects, elaborate sets, lavish costumes and breathtaking action sequences.
Kanguva, which means “man with the power of fire” in Tamil. The film explores his journey from a humble tribal leader to a mighty valiant who united the people under his banner. The film also depicts his love story with Disha Patani, who plays his wife and queen. The film also features an ensemble cast of Bobby Deol, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Anandaraj, Ravi Raghavendra, K. S. Ravikumar and B. S. Avinash in supporting roles.
Kanguva is produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green and V. Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati of UV Creations. The film has music by Devi Sri Prasad, cinematography by Vetri Palanisamy and editing by Nishadh Yusuf. The dialogues are written by Madhan Karky, who also co-wrote the lyrics with Viveka. The art direction is by Supreme Sundar and the stunts are choreographed by Anal Arasu.
Kanguva is slated to hit the screens in early 2024 in 2D as well as 3D formats. The film is expected to be a milestone in Suriya’s career and a landmark in Indian cinema. The film is also Siva’s next big venture after delivering blockbuster hits like Viswasam and Annaatthe.
