Days after Thala Ajith has exited from the Diwali race, Suriya has now joined the track as he has unveiled a massive update on Friday in which he had officially announced that his next 'Jai Bhim' will be released during Diwali. While it was earlier announced that the movie will be released in November, the current update from the actor has come with the date and 'Jai Bhim' will be released on November 2.
Despite the theatres were reopened, Suriya has reaffirmed his OTT outreach as Jai Bhim will be premiering on Amazon Prime Video. It has been reported that Jai Bhim will be released in hundreds of countries on the same date on Amazon Prime Video. On Friday, Suriya took to social media and wrote, "Proud to bring this story of courage and faith in pursuit of Justice!! #JaiBhimOnPrime arrives on Nov 2." He also had released a poster that carried the release date.
If his brief stint in the anthology of Navarasa is kept aside, Jai Bhim will be the second movie for Suriya in a year that will be released on Amazon Prime after 'Soorarai Pottru', which was released last November. Jai Bhim has been touted as a legal drama and the movie is bankrolled by Suriya and Jyothika under their banner 2D Entertainment. It is helmed by TJ Gnanavel and while Suriya plays as an advocate in a lead role, Rajisha Vijayan, Lijomol Jose, Prakash Raj, and K Manikandan will play important roles.
Sean Roldan has composed the music while SR Kathir and Philomin Raj had done cinematography and editing respectively. The story, inspired by former High Court judge Justice Chandru, revolves around a mysterious murder of a tribal couple. As Jai Bhim is a greeting used by the followers of BR Ambedkar, the movie would picturize difficulties faced by the tribal and backward people in pursuing justice.
With the announcement, Suriya has now officially joined the Diwali race, which was vacated by Ajith after the release of his movie 'Valimai' was deferred to Pongal 2022. The Tamil fans await the Diwali race which will be most likely between Jai Bhim, Rajini's 'Annaatthee', and Simbu's Maanaadu. While Annaathee and Maanaadu will be getting released directly on the theatres, Jai Bhim hopes to walk with the leg of OTT.
Suriya had already announced that Jai Bhim will be released on OTT when he inked a deal with Amazon Prime to release several movies produced by his 2D Entertainment. While the movie 'Raame Aandalum Raavane Aandalum' produced by Suriya and Jyothika had already been released on Amazon last month, the movie 'Udanpirappe', starred by Jyothika, Sasikumar, Samudrakani, Soori, and Niveditha Sathish will be released this October.
While Jai Bhim has been slated for release in November, another movie 'Oh My doG' directed by Sarov Shanmugam and starred by Arun Vijay will be getting released on Amazon Prime in December. Earlier while talking about 2D Entertainment's collaboration with Amazon Prime Video, Suriya said, "Given unprecedented circumstances, we innovated on different models of release. Amazon emerged as the chosen streaming service for 2D's latest film launches. From Ponmagal Vandhal to Soorarai Pottru, these beautiful tales found audiences and resonance not just in India, but across the world."
