Jailer starring superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role, is gearing up for a grand release on August 10, 2023. The film, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, also marks the Tamil debut of Kannada star Shivarajkumar, who plays a pivotal role in the action comedy.
According to the latest update, the film's dubbing portions are wrapping up, as Shivarajkumar has completed Tamil dubbing for his portions in the film. Shivarajkumar, who has been ruling the Kannada film industry for more than three decades, has never acted in any other language film before. The team recently shared that the shooting has been completed, by posting a farewell cake-cutting party snap with the Superstar.
He reportedly agreed to be a part of Jailer after being impressed by the script and his character. He plays the role of an antagonist who locks horns with Rajinikanth’s character, Muthuvel Pandian, a jailer. He also plays a crucial role in Arun Matheswaran's Captain Miller.
The sources also revealed that the film will have only two songs and theme tracks composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The two songs of Jailer are expected to be released soon as part of the full-fledged promotions that will kick start from July. The film’s teaser, which was released earlier has already crossed over 40 million views on YouTube and has created a huge fanfare among the fans.
Jailer also boasts of an ensemble cast that includes Jackie Shroff, Sunil, Ramya Krishnan, Vinayakan, Mirnaa Menon, Tamannaah and Vasanth Ravi. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Vijay Karthik Kannan and editing by R. Nirmal.
Jailer is Rajinikanth’s 169th film and his third collaboration with Anirudh Ravichander after Petta (2019) and Darbar (2020). It is also Nelson Dilipkumar’s fourth film as a director after Kolamaavu Kokila, Doctor and Beast.
Jailer is expected to be a family entertainer with all-star-studded collaborations, as the film will also have a cameo appearance by Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, and the Bollywood icon Jackie Shroff. Jailer, backing by Sun Pictures, which will hit the screens on August 10, 2023, coinciding with the Varalakshmi Vratam festival. The film will also be dubbed and released in Kannada, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam languages.
