After Pongal, it's the turn of Diwali to host the direct clash between Superstar Rajinikanth and Thala Ajith as both the legends will come to serve a big Diwali treat for the fans. If Covid-19 poses no trouble, this year's Diwali would be more glorious for the fans and it would be no surprise if the crackers run out of stock. As the theatres are coming back to life with economical oxygen, this year's festivals would be a turning point for both the movie industry and theatres to walk stronger.
Theatres in Tamil Nadu had reopened on August 23 and as Diwali is the big festival after the resumption, anticipations are rife over the release of the movies this November during Diwali, in the albeit that some of the movies are getting baked and released ahead of Diwali. For cinematic fans, Diwali will go in vain if no big movies hit the theatres and after the resumption, they await a huge announcement from the industry on the movies that are getting slated for release during Diwali.
If all go well as predicted, the fans would witness a clash of legends nearly after three years as Superstar Rajinikanth starred 'Annatthee' and Thala Ajith starred 'Valimai' will hit the big screens during this year's Diwali. Both the movies are at the final stages and proceeding at a steady pace towards the release. Both the stars had clashed previously during the Pongal festival in 2019 when Rajini starred 'Petta' and Ajith starred 'Viswasam' released on January 10, 2019.
It has been reported that the fans would most likely see the clash again after three years. While Annaatthe has officially announced that it will hit the big screens for this year's Diwali - 4th November 2021, Valimai mulls to be a major contender in the clash. Recently, the Valimai team has done its shooting in Russia and the pictures of Ajith in Russia have been going viral on social media. The reports close to the developments claim that it's confirmed that Valimai and Annaatthe will be released for Diwali.
Initially, the makers of Valimai had planned to release the movie on Ayutha Pooja. However, the current situation didn't go favour for the team after which it was decided to release the movie during Diwali. While the fans prepare to celebrate, a section of distributors and theatre owners had expressed concern that the clash would affect them on the front of revenue. The Valimai team has begun the negotiations and final process to serve the movie to the fans as Diwali treat.
Valimai is touted to be an action thriller and while it was bankrolled by Boney Kapoor under the banner of Bayview Projects, it is directed by H Vinoth. While Ajith plays the lead role, Huma Qureshi, Kartikeya Gummakonda, Yogi Babu, Pugazh, Bani J, and Pavel Navageethan will be playing important roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music while Nirav Shah has done cinematography.
On the other hand, Annaatthe comes with an ensemble cast. The movie is produced by Kalanithi Maran under his own banner of Sun Pictures and directed by Siva, who directed Ajith in Viswasam. While Rajinikanth plays the lead role, Meena, Khushbu, Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Jackie Shroff, Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj, Vela Ramamoorthy, Soori, Sathish, and George Maryan will be playing important roles. Imman has composed the music while Vetri and Ruben had taken care of cinematography and editing respectively. In what has become a surprise piece of news, the first look poster of Annaatthe will be unveiled on Friday.
