From Superstar Rajinikanth, Mohanlal to Dhanush...Entire cinema industry pays tribute to KV Anand!

The director who presented some of the everlasting movies like Ayan, Ko, Kavan, and Kaappaan is no more. One of the most celebrated filmmakers of Kollywood KV Anand has passed away in the wee hours of Friday at the age of 54 in Chennai due to cardiac arrest. His untimely demise is a bolt from the blue for the Tamil Cinema industry, which is already mourning the loss of Padma Shri Vivekh and director Thamira. 

Anand is known for his impressive and outstanding works towards cinematography and direction and lived through the generations. He is the founding member of the Indian Society of Cinematographers (ISC). He had passed away on April 30 at 3.30 am due to a massive stroke at the age of 54. According to reports, he had suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence in the wee hours of Friday and managed to drive himself to a nearby hospital but he passed away at the hospital. 

Ever since the news of his demise broke out, several actors and cinema fraternities have been paying tribute to the departed soul. Superstar Rajinikanth took to Twitter and wrote, "The demise of respected KV Anand gives a shock and agony. My deepest sympathies to his family members who mourn his loss. May his soul rest in peace." 

In his tribute note, actor turned politician Kamal Haasan said, "KV Anand, who started his career as a photographer in magazines, has established himself as an outstanding cinematographer and director through his unwavering dedication. His demise was a disaster for cinema. My tribute." Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal took to Twitter and wrote, "Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. K.V. Anand sir you will be missed forever. Prayers for the departed soul. Pranams."

Actor Dhanush took to Twitter and wrote, "A gentle kind honest man has passed away. A very sweet man full of life love and joy. K.v Anand sir .. gone too soon sir. Too soon. My condolences to his family. Rest in peace k.v, sir." Tollywood star Allu Arjun said, "Just woke up to this sad news that Dir KV Anand garu is no more. Wonderful cameraman, a brilliant director, and a very nice gentleman. Sir, you will always be remembered & missed. Condolences to the near, dear & family. Rest in Peace Sir." 

Actor turned politician Khushbu Sundar wrote, "Just unbelievable!! #RIP #KVAnand." Actor Gautam Karthik took to Twitter and wrote, "We've lost a wonderful creator. #KVAnand sir may you rest in peace. My condolences to the family..." 'Master' director Lokesh Kanagaraj said, "Saddened to hear this news...we will miss you, sir! Rest In Peace sir". Actor Arun Vijay wrote, "Shocking...#RIPKVAnand sir!!" 

Actor Jiiva, who acted in Anand's directorial 'Ko', took to Twitter and wrote, "Shocked and shattered to know the demise of KV Anand Sir... No words to describe what I feel... May his soul Rest In Peace... Prayers to his family Gone too soon!" Notable director Venkat Prabhu said, "Whatta shocking news to wake up to. Unbelievable. My deepest condolences to the family and friends. #RIPKVAnand saar." Director Selvaraghavan wrote, "Rest in peace, my friend". 

Music composer Harris Jayaraj said, "Unfortunate and extremely shock to hear this devastating News. RIP my friend KV Anand." Reputed director Shankar said, "Absolutely shocked. My heart feels so heavy... painful. Just can’t digest...I lost a very dear friend K.V a wonderful cinematographer, and a brilliant director. This loss can never be compensated. I will miss you, my dear friend. R.I.P. My deepest condolences to his family and friends". 

Actor Jayam Ravi wrote, "Shocked and deeply saddened. #RIPKVAnand sir. Heartfelt condolences and strength to his family." Actor Vikram Prabhu said, "Such a well-mannered, soft-spoken gentleman and a proven bundle of talent! Shocked to hear the news, strength to the family. #Ayan will forever be my favorite work of yours! #RIPKVAnand sir". Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly said, "Shocked and Saddened! Rest in peace sir."

Actress Kalyani Priyadarshan took to Twitter and wrote, "Incredibly shocked and saddened... his work from the very beginning in thenmavin kombatthu directly influenced my love for cinema as a child, and shaped who I became today... My heart is heavy as I pray his soul rests in peace. #RIPKVAnand sir". Anand had begun his career in the film industry as a cinematographer in 1994 with the Malayalam movie 'Thenmavin Kombath'. He had won the National Award for the Best Cinematography for his very first movie in recognition of the outstanding cinematography executed with sincerity, imagination, and flexibility. 

Anand had also worked as a cinematographer with director Shankar in the movies like 'Mudhalvan' which was released in 2000 and Rajinikanth-starred 'Sivaji' in 2007. Amid doing cinematography, he began the directorial stunt and made his debut as the director in 'Kana Kandean' starred by Srikanth, Prithviraj, and Gopika. From then on, he transformed himself to be a notable director by presenting the movies like Ayan, Ko, Maattraan, Anegan, Kavan, and Kaappaan.

Anand had won five awards for cinematography - National Film Award (1995), Screen Award for Best Cinematography for Kadhal Desam in 1997, Screen Award for Best Cinematography for Josh in 2001, SICA Award for Best Cinematography for 'The Legend of Bhagat Singh' in 2002, and Filmfare Award for Best Cinematographer South for 'Sivaji' in 2007. Though he was nominated for the Best Director Awards, he hadn't won an award as the director.
