These condemnations have been lining up in the wake of registering FIR against 49 celebrities, writers and activists across the nation who had addressed the Prime minister through their open letter in July 2019 with the move to express their deep concerns over the unprecedented rise of communal violence in the country that had targeted the religious and ethnic minorities. It has been reported that the FIR has been filed against these celebrities under the grounds of sedition, hurting religious feelings, public nuisance and committing breach of peace.
The reports say that the case has been lodged against them at Sadar police station in Muzzafarpur, Bihar with accord to the judicial order issued by the magistrate court through citing the petition tabled by the advocate Sudhir Ojha. The advocate had said that all these 49 celebs have been accused because they intentionally defamed the image of the Prime minister and his governance.

In their letter, they had cited that 'Jai Shri Ram' has been becoming the chant for war cry and further urged the Prime minister to unleash the stringent actions against such hate crimes rather than just addressing the issue in the Parliament. The letter ends with their collective stand that says 'criticizing the ruling party does not imply criticizing the nation'.
