Twitter has been filled with an unprecedented slew of tweets across and beyond India as from the leaders to the celebrities, the notable people across the country have been displaying their views on the incessant agitations of farmers and the remarks of solidarity to them from the global figures like Rihanna and Greta Thunberg.
When international pop-singer Rihanna took to Twitter and extended her support to the protesting farmers, it had drawn major global attention towards the farmers' protests and following Rihanna, global faces like Greta Thunberg, Mia Khalifa, and Meena Harris had also extended their support for the farmers, which had disturbed the Indian government following which it had issued a statement condemning the international faces for intruding in the matter that is vested within India's sovereignty.
In the statement, the Ministry of External Affairs had mentioned the hashtags #IndiaTogether and #IndiaAgainstPropaganda. Ever since the hashtags were released, several celebrities including Bollywood stars and Indian cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar had used the hashtags in support of the government. The fleet of Indian cricketers had raced up to show their display of patriotism by tweeting in support of the government. They had pressed that India is together and India will decide on its issues.
However, the fame of most of the cricketers including Sachin Tendulkar had deeply got eroded after many Tweeple flayed them for opening up for the first time on the farmers' protest and voicing in support of the government. While tweeting India together, no cricketer had condemned Bollywood star and BJP supporter Kangana Ranaut for branding the protesting farmers' terrorists. Ranaut had further called Rihanna a fool and labeled the people who are supporting the farmers' terrorists.
Many users had alleged that the cricketers were told to tweet in favor of the government. While most of the celebrities have campaigned for the government, which was spelled as against farmers, two Tamil celebrities had taken to Twitter and add a significant voice in support of the protesting farmers, taking a different turn from the herd of celebrities who supported the government and forgot to flay the remarks of calling farmers terrorists.
Tamil celebrities GV Prakash Kumar and Siddharth had extended their solidarity to the protesting farmers. In a series of tweets, actor Siddharth had slammed the celebrities for supporting the government without questioning it. Taking to Twitter, the actor said, "Choose your heroes wisely or watch them fall from grace. Education, empathy, honesty, and a little spine could have saved the day. Alas. When powerful people who never take a stand, all suddenly sing the same tune in an orchestrated effort and just tow the line they are told to like pawns, that's what propaganda is all about. Know your #propaganda".
Tamil music director GV Prakash Kumar had joined the club of supporting the farmers. Taking to Twitter, GV Prakash Kumar said, "People have the right to protest. Government should protect the interest of the people, Forcing farmers to accept the new laws is suicide. People protesting for their rights and is democracy". While most of the celebrities had wooed the government, the tweets from two celebrities from Tamil Nadu have been virally getting spread.
