Stalin was against giving a seat to Udhayanidhi Stalin...Here's why and how the game changed finally!

DMK President MK Stalin's son Udhayanidhi Stalin is prepared for the political rise as he is all set for contesting his first assembly polls since entering politics. Udhayanidhi Stalin will be contesting from DMK's stronghold Chepauk- Triplicane constituency against the PMK's candidate and though his candidacy amplifies that he is next to the helm of the party, the DMK Youth Wing Secretary had a hard path in winning the party's ticket to contest in the polls.

Udhayanidhi Stalin was pushed to take the help of the senior leaders of the party to convince his father to bring him to the electoral politics as the reports say that Stalin was against giving the party's ticket to his son to ensure that the DMK won't fall prey again into the dynasty politics in the crucial assembly polls in which the party hopes that it has a brighter prospect to win. However, the game was changed finally as the drama had come to the conclusion with Stalin himself announcing the candidacy of his son Udhayanidhi Stalin.

Udhayanidhi Stalin is one of the significant candidates of DMK and he has won the ticket without the full wish of Stalin. Though Udhayanidhi Stalin had moved his application to seek the party's ticket to contest in the polls, it was speculated that he won't be given a chance to contest in this election as Stalin was reluctant in providing the seat to his son. The DMK President was in the same mindset when his son came to the party interview for contesting in the polls.

According to a news agency, Stalin was unhappy over his son's candidacy and his close advisors had warned him that giving a seat to Udhayanidhi Stalin will feed more scoring points to the opposition parties to press that the DMK and dynasty politics are inseparable. Earlier, this week, when Stalin's family members urged him to nod to Udhayanidhi's entry into electoral politics in the upcoming assembly polls.

However, Stalin had tried to convince the family members not to pressure him over providing the ticket for Udhayanidhi Stalin as it would stir adverse effects against the party ahead of the polls. The DMK President had also asked the party seniors not to demand him to provide seats for their sons as Stalin had thought of rejecting the grounds of dynasty politics in the upcoming polls.

Udhayanidhi was keen on getting the ticket for the polls and after capturing Stalin's mind, Udhayanidhi moved his bid through the senior leaders and was affirming that he will be contesting in the polls. He had reached out to the senior leaders close to MK Stalin to convince his father and to display that he is confident of getting a victory. In his drive of convincing his father, the senior leaders had become messengers between the two and they spoke with Stalin incessantly to consider Udhayanidhi's plea.

Udhyananidhi Stalin had made up his mind that he must contest in the elections and he kept on reaching out to the senior leaders, they had urged Stalin to provide a ticket to Udhayanidhi following which Stalin changed his mind and agreed to provide seat his son in the upcoming assembly polls. On Friday, MK Stalin announced the final list of candidates of DMK and Udhayanidhi will be contesting from Chepauk - Triplicane. Udhayanidhi Stalin has been fielded in DMK's stronghold and he has been pushed to keep the stronghold and party's history that Chepauk- Triplicane continues to be DMK's fortress.

The voters from Chepauk- Triplicane had a history of sending DMK members to the successive assemblies. It must be noted that late DMK President Karunanidhi had been elected as MLA three times from this constituency. Karunanidhi was elected to the assembly from this constituency in 1996, 2001, and 2006 elections. It was in the 1991 elections that the party had lost this constituency after the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. After 1991, the constituency had voted for the DMK leaders.

On the other hand, BJP, which is in the ruling ADMK alliance, expected Chepauk- Triplicane constituency to field actor turned politician Khushbu Sundar. However, the ADMK alliance had offered this constituency to the other allied party Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) and PMK has fielded Kasaali as the party's candidate in Chepauk- Triplicane constituency. The process of filing nominations for contesting in the polls in Tamil Nadu had begun on Friday and the state will go to the single-phase polls on April 6 and the votes will be counted on May 2nd, during which the results will be announced.
