SPB remains stable and still in the ICU! Here's the latest update from the hospital

As prayers are going high from millions across and beyond the borders for the speedy recovery of legendary playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who has been battling against the COVID-19 viral infection, the private hospital where he has been getting treated has, on Saturday, said that the singer is doing stable.

In what has become one of the major developments concerning his health condition, MGM Healthcare Hospital in Chennai has said that the singer remains stable and the doctors are closely monitoring his clinical parameters. In the bulletin released on Saturday, the treating hospital further said the 74-year-old playback singer continues to be on life support in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). 

 

The development has come a day after his health took a wrong turn. On Friday, the hospital said, "There has been a setback in the health of Thiru SP Balasubrahmanyam who had been admitted at MGM Healthcare for symptoms of COVID-19 since 5th August 2020". The statement further reads that "In a late-night development on 13th August 2020, his condition had deteriorated, and based on the advice of the expert medical team attending to him, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and he is on life support and his condition remains critical". 

The hospital further stated, "He is currently under observation by the team of experts from critical care and his haemodynamic and clinical parameters are being closely monitored". On August 5, SP Balasubrahmanyam had tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection and he was admitted to MGM Healthcare Hospital in Chennai. 

In his Facebook message after testing positive for COVID-19, the playback singer said, "I am in good hands, they are taking good care of me. I have good health. I'm perfectly alright except for the cold and fever. Fever has also subsided and I will be discharged in two days and I will be home. I have come here mostly to take rest so there won't be any disturbance to me and to take medication. I am fine, I will be fine".

However, the recent setback had worried his friends, fans, and the entire cinema industry as being a multilingual artist, he has sung over 40,000 songs in 16 languages and earned a special place and respect from everyone, who are now praying for his speedy recovery. 

On Friday, well-known faces like AR Rahman, Dhanush, Devi Sri Prasad, Harris Jayaraj, Shekhar Kapoor, Ramya Krishnan, Khusbhu, Chitra, and Keerthy Suresh had wished for the speedy recovery of the singer. SPB's close friend 'Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja had shared an emotional video message for wishing the singer to have a speedy recovery.
