Sourav Ganguly's health condition: Hospital issues official statement! How is he doing now?

In a huge relief for the cricketing fans in India, Woodlands Hospital has on Sunday said that BCCI President and former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has been doing absolutely fine and he has been recovering from the angioplasty, which he had undergone on Saturday after suffering a mild heart attack.

Woodlands Hospital Chief Executive Rupali Basu had assured that the legendary cricketer is doing fine and responding to treatments. In the official statement, the hospital said that Ganguly has been recovering from a right coronary angioplasty that he underwent on Saturday. Basu said, "He (Ganguly) is doing absolutely fine, I met him this morning and spoke to him". 

Basu stated, "Ganguly has his wife Dona, brother Snehasish, and his wife beside him. He was spending time with them. He's looking fine, maybe a bit tired from the way I would normally see him. I don't think there is any risk to his health at all at the moment".  Speaking to a news agency, Basu said Ganguly came to the hospital at 1 pm on Saturday and he had gone through investigations and the doctors found that Ganguly's heart is not functioning right.

Following the investigations, Ganguly had gone through an angioplasty procedure, and his main culprit artery has now been fixed with a stent. There are two more such blocks in two more arteries and the hospital is in the process of revascularization currently. Basu said that the hospital is in touch with the expert opinions from the best cardiologists in the country and Ganguly will be back to his active life after three to four weeks of rest after two blocked arteries are revascularized. 

The legendary cricketer was exercising on his treadmill at 11 am on Saturday during which he started feeling chest pain and he was taken to the Woodlands hospital in Kolkata. The investigations had shown he had suffered a mild heart attack and he had three blockages in three coronary arteries following which he had gone through angioplasty. Ever since the news of his hospitalization was headlined, many fans and reputed cricket players have been expressing wishes to Ganguly for a speedy recovery. 

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, and thousands of fans had extended their wishes to the 48-year-old former Indian captain. Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar had on Saturday said, "Just got to know about your ailment Sourav. Hope each passing day brings you closer to a full and speedy recovery! Get well soon."
