The fans of the 2013 cult classic Soodhu Kavvum are in for a treat as the sequel of the film has been officially announced by producer C.V. Kumar. Soodhu Kavvum 2: Nadum Naatu Makkalum will be directed by S.J. Arjun and will feature Mirchi Shiva as the lead actor, replacing Vijay Sethupathi who played the role of a quirky kidnapper in the original.
Soodhu Kavvum, directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, was a dark comedy that revolved around a gang of four misfits who get into trouble when they kidnap the son of a corrupt politician. The origin film was a huge hit and catapulted Vijay Sethupathi into the top league of actors. It also introduced many promising talents to the industry such as Karunakaran, Ramesh Thilak, Bobby Simha, Ashok Selvan and Sanchita Shetty.
The sequel will retain some of the actors from the first part, such as Karunakaran and Ramesh Thilak, who will reprise their roles as Shiva’s sidekicks. Radha Ravi will also join the cast as a new character. There is also a buzz that Vijay Sethupathi might make a cameo appearance in the film, which would be a delight for his fans.
The poster of Soodhu Kavvum 2 resembles the one from the original, with a vivid colored vibe poster. The tagline reads “The Gang is Coming Again With New Rules”, which hints at more twists and turns in the plot. The film will have music by Edwin Louis Viswanath, cinematography by Karthik K Thillai and editing by Ignatious Aswin.
The film is produced by C.V. Kumar under his banner Thirukumaran Entertainment. The makers not yet revealed much about the first look, teaser and release date. But Soodhu Kavvum 2 is expected to be another entertaining ride with a blend of humour, action and suspense.
