Singer SPB is still critical, under the support of ventilator and ECMO in ICU!

Renowned playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam (SPB) has still been at the critical state as he battles against the COVID-19 viral infection for the past two weeks.

A press release issued by the MGM Healthcare hospitals in Chennai, where he has been getting treated, has, on Wednesday, said that the singer continues to be critical and has been on the support of the ventilator and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

He was moved to the ICU last week after there was a sudden deterioration in his health condition. In the press release, the hospital further stated that the expert medical team has been treating him and closely monitoring his vital parameters which are satisfactory at this point in time. The development has come when the singer has been getting millions of prayers and wishes from his fans and fraternities across and beyond the borders.

He was tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection on August 5 and he was admitted to the MGM Hospitals. In his video message after testing positive, SPB said he had a very mild infection and he has been treated by the good hands and he would get discharged in two days. However, from nowhere, the hospital last week said his health had attained a setback and he was moved to the ICU and he has been at the critical state since the setback.

After the shocking development, celebrities, fraternities, and fans have been pouring their wishes and prayers for the singer's speedy recovery. Some of the prominent figures like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Bharathiraja, Sathyaraj and Ilaiyaraaja had offered their wishes to the singer to get well soon and come back. With the hashtag of #PrayforSPB, the singer's fans have been sending their prayers and recapping his contribution and his divine voice.

By making his songs as his cure, veteran director Bharathiraja has appealed to the singer's fans for a mass prayer on August 20 to send their prayers collectively and loudly to nature to get him back. The director called everyone to play SPB songs at 6 pm on August 20 at their respective places and pray for his speedy recovery. By citing that such a mass prayer had helped MGR to get back, the director called everyone to offer similar prayers for the recovery of SPB.

In his recent video message, SPB's son SPB Charan said that his father has been on the ventilator. He is getting monitored by the team of doctors of the MGM Healthcare hospital in Chennai and he has been getting good care and he appealed to the people to send the prayers continuously. According to the reports, during the ECMO treatment, the blood would be pumped outside the body to a machine that removes carbon dioxide and then replaces it with oxygen before pumping into the body.
