Three years after hitting the floors, Simbu's next 'Maanaadu' has successfully wrapped up the shooting and is now baked as the actor's treat for his fans as they have been anticipating the movie release. The movie had gone through setbacks, disappointments, and Covid lockdown during the tenure of the shooting.
On the last day of the shooting, the makers had arranged a small cake-cutting ceremony and after the last shot, Simbu and the crew members had cut the cake and celebrated the moment. In what has become a big surprise for the crew members, Simbu had gifted an expensive wristwatch to everyone in the team including director Venkat Prabhu.
Venkat Prabhu took to Twitter and wrote, "Thank q @SilambarasanTR_ for all the love and support!! Thanks for the watch!!! #OurTimeStartsNow #MaanaaduWrapped thanks to my team!! Soon our #abdulkhaliq will be yours!! #maanaadu". The pictures shared by Venkat Prabhu have been going viral as the fans rampantly shared the photos on social media.
As Maanaadu's shooting is over, it has been expected that Maanaadu will be released within this year, probably for this year's Diwali. Maanaadu is one of the most anticipated movies of Simbu which would be a cusp of the actor's transformation. Earlier, the shooting was delayed in light of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and after the government has eased the restrictions, the shooting had resumed.
Last week, the makers of Maanaadu resumed the shoot at Hosur Aerodrome with the team. Maanaadu is a political action film with the elements of science fiction. In a Twitter Spaces session earlier, Simbu has said that there will be time travel elements in the movie and it will be conveyed in an uncomplicated manner.
Bankrolled by Suresh Kamatchi, Maanaadu is directed by Venkat Prabhu. While Simbu plays the lead role, SJ Suryah, SA Chandrasekhar, Bharathiraja, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Karunakaran, and Premgi Amaran in important roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the music in the movie. The movie shooting has come to an end on Saturday- July 10, the same day when it was started three years ago. To mark it, producer Suresh Kamatchi took to Twitter and wrote, "Wow what a coincidence? It's the same date we started #Maanaadu and it's wrapped up on the same date. #July10th @SilambarasanTR_"
