In a shocking piece of news, a woman police officer in Tamil Nadu has committed suicide at her residence. The incident has happened in the Trichy district and the local police department has launched a probe into the death.

According to reports, 56-year-old Adhilakshmi was a resident of Iqbal Colony, TVS tollgate in Trichy. As a police officer, she was attached to the women's police training centre in Navalpatu near Thiruverumbur. Her husband is a retired Sub-Inspector and the couple has two sons - Lenin (26) and Bharath (22). They were residing at the police quarters. 

It has been reported that Adhilakshmi was found hanging at her residence and after knowing the incident, the neighbours had informed the Navalpattu police. Based on the information, the police officials had arrived at the spot and recovered the body. The mortal remains of Adhilakshmi were later sent to the Government Hospital in Trichy for conducting an autopsy.  The police have filed a case and launched a probe into the suicidal death of a woman police officer.
