In a shocking piece of news, popular actor Vikram has on Friday- July 8 admitted to a private hospital in Chennai due to a sudden health setback. The ardent fans of the actor and several fraternities have been stunned to learn about the development and they have been extending their wishes to the actor for a speedy recovery. 

According to reports, Vikram has been admitted to Kauvery Hospital in Alwarpet in Chennai. While several reports say that the actor had suffered a cardiac arrest, the sources in the know have asserted that Vikram had symptoms of high fever and he was immediately attended to by a team of doctors. The actor is stable and under observation. 

The sources further said that his fever is reduced now and Vikram has been shifted to a normal ward. He will most likely get discharged in the evening hours of Friday. However, his fans would miss him at a grand event of the teaser launch of the movie 'Ponniyin Selvan' that would be held at 6 pm on Friday in Chennai Trade Centre. Vikram is playing a lead role in this magnum opus project helmed by Mani Ratnam. 

Besides Ponniyin Selvan, Vikram awaits the release of 'Cobra' which would hit the screens this August. Cobra is helmed by Ajay Gnanamuthu and while Vikram plays the lead role, KGF fame Srinidhi Shetty, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan, Mirnalini Ravi, KS Ravikumar, and Miya George will be playing important roles. While Cobra will be released on August 11, Ponniyin Selvan will hit the big screens on September 30 and AR Rahman has composed the music for both the movies.
