In a shocking turn of events, the daughter of music composer and actor Vijay Antony,  16-year-old Meera from Chennai's Alwarpet, died by suicide at her home on Tuesday morning. The police are probing the incident and are searching for any suicide note. The girl was found hanging from the ceiling of her bedroom around 3 AM.

Vijay Antony and his wife Fathima were shocked and devastated by the news of their daughter’s death. They rushed to the hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. They have not made any official statement yet, but are expected to do so soon.

Meera was a Class XII student in a private school and was studying music like her father. She was the elder daughter of Vijay Antony, who is known for his songs in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films. Vijay Antony is currently working on his upcoming movie release Ratham, directed by CS Amudhan.

The reason behind Meera’s suicide is not yet known, but sources close to the family said that she was suffering from depression and had been under a lot of stress. Meera’s death has created a huge shockwave in the Tamil film industry, where she was admired for her talent and passion for music.

The police have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating the matter further. Vijay Antony is a popular music composer, actor and filmmaker in Tamil cinema. Vijay Antony was born in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. He has a younger sister.  He is married to Fathima Vijay Antony, who is also a film producer. They have two daughters, Meera and Lara.
