In a shocking development, Mohanlal's statement was taken by the Income Tax Department followed by the raid two months ago, which was connected to a financial deal the actor made with producers Antony Perumbavoor, Anto Joseph, and Listin Stephen in December of last year and which was investigated for potential tax avoidance, unrecorded money transfers, and overseas real estate investments.

According to IT sources, Mohanlal was questioned about some financial details. The statement reportedly took place at Mohanlal's Kundanur apartment at Ernakulam wihch was lasted for four and a half hours,  Officials from the Income Tax Department have stated that they have requested more information regarding several of actor's financial matters.

The officials, as per the reports, have been seeking details about the individuals' foreign assets and financial transactions. Mohanlal's name was also attached to some monetary dealings that were uncovered as per reports. There is already a recording of Anthony Perumbavoor's statement on the subject. Now that the documents seized in the raid two months ago have been examined, the remaining witnesses are having their statements recorded.

Anthony, who founded Aashirvad Cinemas, has produced several films starring the actor. It's worth noting that a number of Malayalam film industry figures, including Prithviraj, Anthony Perumbavoor, Anto Joseph, Listin Stephen, Badusha, and Zubair, had their homes and belongings searched by Income Tax officials a few months ago. In investigating high-profile celebrities earlier, the department also found mismatches between the stars' reported earnings and their actual investments and income.

It was also found that some of the biggest names in Malayalam cinema have overseas bank accounts. Records pertaining to foreign bank accounts and dealings are also being reviewed by the Income Tax Department. On work front, Mohanlal wrapped up the first Jaisalmer schedule of Malaikottai Valiban, the upcoming action thriller helmed by Lijo Jose Pellissery where Kamal Hassan said to be play a cameo role.  He will be also seen in a special appearance in the upcoming Rajinikanth starrer Jailer.
