A DMK functionary was hacked to death by two assailants in Chennai on Sunday. The police have launched a probe into the heinous crime and have initiated a manhunt as the assailants are being at large.
According to reports, 38-year-Madan was murdered near the Munro statue on Pallavan Salai in Park Town, Chennai. The incident has happened at around 10 pm on Sunday. It has been reported that Madan had joined DMK before the urban local body polls. He was walking to meet a friend during which two men, who came on a bike, had surrounded him near the statue.
The men had begun to attack Madan with sickles and hacked him to death. The accused had fled the spot while Madan had sustained grave injuries and breathed his last on the spot. After being informed about the incident, a police team had arrived at the spot. The officials had recovered Madan's body and sent it to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital to conduct an autopsy.
The police have said that the preliminary investigation had revealed that Madan could have got murdered due to the previous enmity. However, the officials have denied the grounds of political enmity. A case has been filed and the police are conducting searches to nab the assailants. A senior police officer said that they had got clues about the accused and the motive for the murder can be established only after their arrest and investigation.
