In a shocking piece of news, a BJP leader in Delhi was shot dead by unknown assailants in front of his house on Wednesday. The police have launched a probe into the incident and the city's law enforcement agency had recovered evidence from the crime scene. The dreadful incident has happened amid the events of national attention in Delhi after the Jahangirpuri violence. 

According to reports, 40-year-old Jitu Chaudhary was a local BJP leader and he was shot dead in Delhi's Mayur Vihar phase-3 on Wednesday in front of his house by unknown assailants. The incident has caught major attention and it has sparked a heavy security apparatus from the city police as the officials are hunting for the assailants responsible for the murder. 

As per the Deputy Commissioner of Police East, Priyanka Kashyap, the police have recovered important evidence from the crime scene. She said, "Local BJP leader Jitu Chaudhary was shot dead in Mayur Vihar phase- 3 around 8.15 pm this (Wednesday) evening. A few empty cartridges and other important evidence have been recovered from the crime scene." 

As the assailants are on the run, the police have been sifting the CCTV footage in the area and also recording the statements from the eyewitnesses. Chaudhary had suffered severe gunshot injuries and he was declared brought dead at the hospital in Noida. The reports say that the Ghazipur police officials were patrolling the area on Wednesday during which they noticed a gathering of people and found that Chaudhary was shot. 

The preliminary inquiry has revealed that two men, who came in a motorbike, had shot Chaudhary and fled the spot and the BJP leader has sustained four bullets in his body. The police said, "The victim was found lying on a road in a pool of blood in front of his house. The victim was having gunshot injuries. The public shifted the injured to a hospital in a private vehicle. The victim was brought dead in the hospital." The police had booked a case against unknown individuals behind the attack.
