Ajith Kumar, who is known for his blockbuster films and humble personality, has landed in a controversy after a producer accused him of cheating. Manickam Narayanan, the owner of Seventh Channel Communications and the producer of films such as Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu and Vithagan, has claimed that Ajith borrowed money from him many years ago and never returned it.
He also alleged that Ajith promised to do a film for him and adjust the amount with his salary, but failed to keep his word. In an interview with popular media channel, Narayanan said "Ajith borrowed money from me many years back as he wanted to send his parents on a holiday to Malaysia,"
"He told me then that he would do a film for me and we could adjust this amount with his salary. However, till date he has not returned the money nor done a film for me. He has not spoken about this at all in all these years. He calls himself a gentleman, but he's not!".
He said that Ajith knows how to act in life alone, not in movies. "He has a very good family and he is earning Rs 50 crores and more for every film. What is the need for him to cheat people?" questioned Narayanan. He also claimed that he did not help producers like AM Rathnam, who suffered huge losses while producing his films?
Narayanan also revealed that he was good friends with Ajith’s wife and former actor Shalini, but she too has not intervened in this matter. He said that his intention is not to criticise Ajith for borrowing money from him, but to make him acknowledge the fact and have a conversation with him about it. Ajith Kumar has not responded to these allegations yet. The actor is to move on to his next project Vidamuyarchi by Magizh Thirumeni.
