In a shocking piece of news, a school principal in Gujarat has committed suicide on Sunday when the rest of the teaching fraternity across the nation was celebrating Teachers' Day. The deceased has left a suicide note in which he blamed four people for his death and the police had launched the probe and filed a case against the four.
According to reports, 47-year-old Ghanshyam Amrelia was a principal of a Thordi Prathmik Shala, a government primary school in the Gir Somnath district in Gujarat. A resident of Dron village in Gir Gadhda taluk of Gir Somnath has told his family at 9.30 am on Sunday that he was leaving for school. However, he had never returned and the police say that he was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside a classroom at around 11.45 am. After being informed, the local police had rushed to the school and begun investigations into his death.
The police had found that Amrelia had left a suicide note behind in which he alleged that two Taluk Primary Education Officers and two teachers - one belonging to the same school and another was a principal of another government primary school were demanding money from him. In a handwritten suicide note, the deceased has said that these four people had tortured and harassed him demanding money due to which he had taken an extreme step of ending his life.
21-year-old Bansari, the daughter of the deceased principal, has filed a complaint to the police and based on that complaint, the police have booked the two educational officers and two teachers for abetting the principal to commit suicide. An FIR was registered at Gir Gadhda police station and according to the FIR, Amrelia's friend Amin Chauhan went to the former's home and informed his daughter and wife that Amrelia had called him at around 11 am over the phone and said that he was ending his life due to harassment and asked Chauhan to look after his family.
Following this, Amrelia's daughter Bansari had also received a WhatsApp message from his father. In her complaint, she has said, "I have received a WhatsApp message from my father which was a photo of a one-page note written by him saying that he was going to end his life due to harassment from his superior officers." After receiving such a shocking note, Bansari and her neighbour Kasa Chauhan had rushed to the school at around 11.45 am and they pushed the door of Amrelia's classroom and found that he was hanging from a ceiling fan.
In her complaint, Bansari affirmed that there was no one in the school apart from her father when they reached there. They had informed the police and the officials had recovered the body and the suicide note. Bansari told the police that primary education officers Jayesh Rathod and Jayesh Goswami had intimidated her father to pay Rs 25 lakh, accusing him of drinking and in akin, Dilip Gadhesariya, principal of another school had also demanded Rs 7 lakh from her father. Vala Zala, a teacher at Thoradi primary school where Amrelia was principal, had also got Rs 4 lakh from Amrelia.
In his letter, Amrelia had said that all four of them had threatened him that he will face action for drinking and they went on to harass him due to which he had decided to end his life. Based on Bansari's complaint and on the suicide note, the police had booked a case against the four under the grounds of abetment of suicide and begun further investigations into the shocking incident that happened when Amrelia's peers across the country were flooded with wishes and celebrations for the Teachers' Day.
