Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, one of the most popular couples, have announced that they had welcomed their first child through surrogacy. They took to social media on January 21 and shared the news, which swiftly caught major attention. The couple has been trending on social media platforms as hundreds of thousands of people including prominent celebrities have been expressing their wishes to them.
In an identical social media post, the couple wrote, "We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much (sic)." Priyanka Chopra has married American singer and actor Nick Jonas three years ago and the Bollywood actress has been majorly residing in the United States.
They got married in December 2018 in an opulent wedding ceremony that was held at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Rajasthan. The ceremony had both Christian and Hindu marriage traditions. The culture of welcoming a baby through surrogacy is not new in Bollywood as several couples have opted for this culture and become parents. After welcoming the little one into the family, the actor wrote, "Amidst all the noise that has been going around, the sweetest is the one made by our newborn baby, AbRam. He was born prematurely by several months but has finally come home." The Khan couple has three kids including AbRam and the other two being Aryan Khan and Suhana Khan.
Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra:
On February 15, 2020, veteran actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra welcomed their daughter - Samisha Shetty Kundra through surrogacy. Shilpa shared a post on social media in which she said, "Samisha Shetty Kundra, born: 15th February 2020, Junior SSK in the house. 'Sa' in Sanskrit is 'to have' and 'Misha' is Russian stands for 'someone like God'. You personify this name, our Goddess Laxmi and complete our family."
Karan Johar:
Veteran director Karan Johar has become a single parent when he welcomed twins Roohi Johar and Yash Johar through surrogacy. They were born in February 2017. After maintaining silence for months in announcing the arrival of the twins, senior Johar had finally shared the news on social media that he had welcomed twins through surrogacy. Though he is a single parent, Karan Johar's mother Hiroo Johar is helping his son in raising his kids.
Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao:
Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, who announced their separation last year, were among the first-in-line celebrities to opt for surrogacy. The couple had welcomed their child Azad, through IVF surrogacy. They had decided to opt for surrogacy as Kiran had suffered a miscarriage and uterine complications. They had welcomed Azad in 2011 and Kiran was the second wife for Aamir Khan, who married Reena before through which he had two children - Junaid and Ira Khan.
Sohail Khan and Seema Khan:
Renowned actor and director Sohail Khan and his wife Seema Khan had welcomed their second child Yohan through surrogacy. Yohan was born in June 2011 via IVF surrogacy, ten years after the birth of the couple's first son, Nirvaan. The couple had taken medical advice and decided to opt for IVF surrogacy to have their second child. The reports have claimed that it was Sohail and Seema Khan who have recommended surrogacy to Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan.
Sunny Leone and Daniel Weber:
Actress Sunny Leone and Daniel Weber have three kids - Nisha, Asher, and Noah. The couple had adopted 21-month-old Nisha in 2017 while they welcomed twin boys - Asher and Noah via surrogacy in 2018. Earlier this month, Sunny Leone had publicly spoken about her experience during surrogacy. She said it was really heartbreaking when the surrogacy wasn't working for them.
