Senior Tamil Nadu Minister battles COVID-19, under ventilator support!

Tamil Nadu Minister and senior ADMK leader Kamaraj has been battling for survival after he was tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection. Kamaraj has been serving as the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies and the development has shocked the party as it has come at a high time when it has been preparing for the upcoming assembly polls.

According to reports, Kamaraj was admitted to MIOT Hospital in Chennai on January 5 after he was confirmed to have contracted the COVID-19 viral infection. The hospital initially had said that he was stable and asymptomatic and will be discharged shortly.

However, he developed health complications after which he was rushed to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai for further treatment and he was under continuous observation. However, he hasn't responded well to treatments following which he was put under ventilator support.

The reports say that the minister would be getting shifted from Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital to MGM Healthcare Hospital in Chennai on Tuesday and the minister would be placed in the Intensive Care Unit as he has been battling for survival for two weeks. The Minister will be intensively monitored and he will be receiving treatment under life support mechanisms. It must be noted the legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam was getting treated at the MGM Hospital for COVID-19.

So far, dozens of legislators, ministers, and political leaders were tested positive for COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu of which some of them had died due to the health complications of the infection. Last October, then Tamil Nadu agriculture minister Doraikkannu had passed away in Chennai due to COVID-19 while DMK legislator J Anbalagan had died of the novel coronavirus last June. As Kamaraj has been battling against the COVID-19, the party leaders, members, and people are expressing their wishes to the minister for his speedy recovery.
